Windows media player can not play due to sound card error

Windows media player is a good media player for users.While sometimes it also can have some errors. Have you been caught in such situation: when you try to play any track in Windows Media player, the system pops up an error message saying, "No wave device that can play files in the current format is installed."

Maybe sound card is not available for Windows Media Player to use. To fix this sound card error you can do the following steps:

1. Check the default devices:
Step 1: Click Start, and then go to Control Panel

Syep 2: Click Sound and Audio Devices, and then click Audio, Make sure that the default devices are listed here.


2. Update the sound card driver. In order to update:
Step 1: Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.

Step 2: Click the Hardware tab. Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.

Step 3: Double-click the sound card, and then click the Driver tab.

Step 4: Click Update Driver. Follow the Hardware Update Wizard to update the sound card driver.

After you finish all the above mentioned steps, you have checked and upgraded you sound card, play you format media in Windows Media Player again. It will works. By the way now the latest windows media player is Windows Media Player 12, you can upgrade to WMP12 right now.
