How to enable ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer 6?
An Active X control can be defined as a small applet or software component that can be reused over and over again (See, How to fix ActiveX Error?).
These encapsulated software programs or applets can either be visual or non visual. They are easy to create and can be included in many applications that run on the Windows platform.
- From the browser menu, click Tools / Internet Options
- Click on the Security Tab
- Select the globe icon representing the Internet Zone
- Click Custom Level
- Scroll down to the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section
- Under Download Signed ActiveX Controls, select Prompt
- Under Download Unsigned ActiveX Controls, select Prompt
- Under Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins select Enable
- Under Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting select Enable
- Click OK to close the Security Settings window (If prompted to verify that you want to change the security settings for this zone click Yes)
- Click OK to close the Internet Options window
- Close and Restart your browser (Internet Explorer)

On March 5, 2008, the first public beta (Beta 1) was released to the general public.
