How to Delete a Windows 7 Partition

Before Windows 7 has been released, you always make disk partition during the system installation, then can not change or delete it without reinstall it. But sometimes, you need to resize the disk partition or which have been divided for some needs, for example ,expand or shrink a disk partition. Windows 7 provides a function to allow you resize or delete it. Following these steps to delete a partition in Windows 7.

Step 1: Get logged in as an Administrator. Right click on the Computer icon on the Desktop and select Manage option.

Step 2: In the Computer Management window click to expand: Computer Management (Local)\Storage\Disk Management folder in the left pane

Step 3: Now right click on the Partition or Volume you want to delete and select "Delete Volume" option in the middle pane. You will be asked to confirm. Click Yes to delete the Partition or No to decline.

Step 4: The Partition will now be deleted. Close the Computer Management window. Then restart the computer.

Tips: You should know that you cannot erase any partition containing virtual memory paging file because the Operating System needs this information for it to start correctly. And remember, All data will be erased from the Partition or Volume you want to delete, so be careful what are going to do.
