Managing Quarantined and Delivered E-mail

When Spam Shredder detects spam, it quarantines that e-mail. Quarantined e-mail is available to view in the Quarantine panel in Spam Shredder. You should check this panel regularly to determine what to do with the quarantined e-mail.

Spam Shredder quarantines any e-mail it thinks may be spam. It decides what may be spam based on the following:

Blacklist—The sender is on your blacklist.
Rules—Spam Shredder's engine compares the headers and text of the message to its internal rules about spam and determines if the message exceeds the spam threshold. Each rule in the engine carries a point value. As the engine compares the e-mail to its rules, it adds up the points. When the point value exceeds a predetermined value, the engine categorizes the e-mail as spam.
Learning database—When you installed Spam Shredder, you also installed the pretrained learning database, which increases Spam Shredder's ability to identify spam. Spam Shredder compares incoming e-mail to the database to determine if an e-mail is spam. You can also send messages to the database as you review your quarantined and delivered e-mail. The learning database is a very powerful tool for "teaching" Spam Shredder what you consider to be spam and what you consider to be "good" e-mail.
Perform DNS Resolution option—With this option selected, any message that comes from an open relay server is categorized as spam. Spammers use open relay servers to send spam. Other senders do not use these servers. For more information about the option, see Setting Spam Shredder Filtering Options.

Spam Shredder also keeps a log of the e-mails it sends to your inbox. You should check this log periodically also.

You can view and manage the e-mail that Spam Shredder quarantines and sends. Spam Shredder lets you:

Send quarantined e-mail to your inbox
Delete quarantined e-mail
Manage the log of delivered e-mail
