Run System Analysis and View Status

To access:

See the top, left side of the Home page.

What it does:

The top of the Home page allows you to run an analysis of your computer. When the analysis completes, you will see your computer's overall condition and can view and run recommended repairs and improvements.

Why use it:

Analysis and status results not only keep you informed of the condition of your computer, they give System Mechanic the information it needs to make specific recommendations for repairs and improvements.

Instructions:

Run an analysis

Click Analyze to run a quick analysis. If you click the drop-down arrow on the button, you can choose to run either a quick or a deep analysis:

  • Perform Quick Analysis. A quick analysis runs a check of your computer. A quick analysis takes approximately 2 minutes to complete.

  • Perform Deep Analysis. A deep analysis is a more comprehensive check of your computer. A deep analysis takes more time to perform than a quick analysis; approximately 7 minutes.

When the analysis completes, the snapshot of your computer's status updates (see below) and the Problem Task List displays any issues that need your attention.

Status Snapshot: Health and security at-a-glance

Based on the last analysis, System Mechanic calculates and displays the overall health and security of your computer with graphic indicators, similar to a car's speedometer.

These computations are based on the number of problems detected and their severity. The status will either be Good, Fair, Low, or Critical.

Status Summary: Overall status summarized

Based on the last analysis, System Mechanic calculates and displays the overall status of your computer. These evaluations are based on the number of problems detected and their severity.

The pane changes color for at-a-glance status information.

  • Green: Your overall system status is Good

  • Yellow: Your overall system status can be improved

  • Red: Your overall system status can be significantly improved

The pane also shows how long it has been since the last analysis, and may recommend that another analysis be run.

Whatever the status, we recommend that you review the Problem Task List to read information about any detected issues.
