Detailed Steps to File Recovery
Step 4 - Running the Search
Once the search is started the progress bar will display the number of files found, the elapsed time and proportion of search remaining.
You can stop the search anytime by pressing the Stop button. If stopped before completion, Recover My Files will show files found up until the point at which the search was stopped.
Note that it is possible to preview recovered files as the search is in progress. Move the progress bar window to get access to the results window. See Step 5 - Previewing the results for further information.
It is possible to stop the search, save files, and start the search again from the place at which it was stopped. To do this, you must take note of the cluster number that the search is up to. In the screen capture below it is cluster 6792171. Stop the search, and save the files that have been recovered. In the results screen click on OPTIONS / ADVANCED and then place a tick in the box next to the option to "prompt for start cluster / sector". When you restart the search you will be prompted to enter in the starting position of the search. Enter the cluster number you recorded and continue the search.
