Recover My FilesTM - English V3.98
Where do I install Recover My Files?
If you are trying to recover deleted files, you should, if possible, avoid installing Recover My Files on the drive on which the files were lost. Even though Recover My Files is a small program, writing data to the hard drive by installing the software has the potential to overwrite and permanently destroy deleted data that you may want to recover.
Running Recover My Files from your CD
If you are attempting to recover files and Recover My Files is not installed on your computer, the best option is to run the program directly from CD. If you have purchased a retail version this is done by placing the CD into your CD drive. The following screen should automatically appear (if it does not, navigate to the CD drive and double click "AutoRun.exe"). Then click on "Run From CD":

Create a Recover My Files CD or USB using another computer:
Install Recover My Files to another computer. Copy the file "RecoverMyFiles.exe" (the default location for this file is "C:Program FilesGetDataRecover My Files") to a CD or USB drive and then run the program from the CD or USB.
Once your recovery is complete and you have no further concerns about potential loss of deleted data by installing new software, we recommend that you install Recover My Files on your computer. Do this by clicking on "Install" on the above menu and follow the on-screen installation instructions.
Other installation Options Include
Second Hard Drive:
Install Recover My Files to a second hard drive in your computer and run the program from this location.
Using a Local Area Network (LAN):
To run Recover My Files via a network use the following procedure:
"RMF" = Recover My Files
"PC1-Deleted" = PC which contains the deleted files
"PC2-Good" = Good PC with RMF installed
Install RMF to "PC2-Good".
Share on "PC2-Good" the folder into which "RMF" has been installed (the default folder is C:Program FilesGetDataRecover My Files).
Go to "PC1-Deleted" and navigate to the shared folder on "PC2-Good" so that you can see the "RMF" program (RecoverMyFiles.exe). MAP the folder to give it a drive letter on PC1-Deleted (in Windows XP, from within Windows Explorer select TOOLS / MAP NETWORK DRIVE).
Run "RMF" on "PC1-Deleted" by executing from "PC1-Deleted" the RecoverMyFiles.exe in the shared folder.
Save the files that you find back across the network into the shared folder on "PC2-Good".
Connect your hard drive to another computer as the secondary drive:
Download and install Recover My Files to another computer. Connect the hard drive from which you are trying to recover files to this computer as the secondary drive (e.g. drive "D:") and then run the search.
Once your recovery is complete we recommend that you install Recover My Files on your computer. That way you will be prepared to recover deleted files in future. You may also want to keep Recover My Files on CD ready for an emergency. Once you have installed Recover My Files click the "Update" button to download the most recent available version.
