Suggestion:

Try the following:

1. Check connections
   
   Ensure the drive you are wanting to search is properly connected to your computer. Check all cables etc. Is the drive showing in Windows Explorer?

2. Are you trying to recover from a Format?
   
   When you delete a partition from your computer the drive letter is lost. When you select Fast or Complete Format Recover you should see an option to search "Physical Drive x". Select the physical drive which corresponds in size to the entire hard drive (or memory card, USB drive etc) in your computer. For example if you have a 100 gigabyte hard drive with a single partition "C:", select the physical drive that is closest in size to 100 gigabytes.

3. Is the file system damaged?
   
   It is possible that your file system is damaged to the extent where you can no longer see your original drive letter. Click on "Manually select options" or the "Options" button, then the "Advanced" tab and place a tick in the box for "allow searching of physical drives". You should then see the option to search the physical drive.

4. Are you connecting directly to a digital camera?
   
   Some digital cameras have a proprietary connection to your computer which Recover My Files cannot recognize as a hard drive. In this case you will need to use a digital camera card reader, an inexpensive device into which your digital camera memory card is inserted and then connected to your PC (usually via a USB connection).
