PC Tools AntiVirus is a full anti-virus package designed to protect your computer from virus, worm and trojan horse threats and infections.
This Quick Start Guide is designed to get you started using PC Tools AntiVirus immediately. When you open PC Tools AntiVirus, you are taken to the Main Status screen. From this screen, you can start scanning your computer for the presence of viruses and related malware threats, as well as activate real-time protection against future infections.
This section provides immediate access to the main functions of PC Tools AntiVirus. Clicking these buttons does the following actions:
Starts an immediate Full Scan of your computer for the presence of viruses and related malware threats.
Activates or deactivates PC Tools AntiVirus' IntelliGuard real-time protection feature.
Displays the Settings screen, where you can alter and 'fine tune' the functionality and scanning behavior of PC Tools AntiVirus.
Status & Summary
This section of the Main Status screen displays information on the date of the last Smart Update and Scan, the current virus definition version number, and the expiry date of the current PC Tools AntiVirus subscription.
The Main Status screen also provides access to:
The Quarantine List - where you can restore infections that were removed in a scan.
The Results List - where you can view the cumulative results of all threats that were detected through IntelliGuard, including those detected in the last scan.
Navigation
Clicking these buttons on the left of the product interface does the following actions:
Displays the Main Status screen, where you can initiate a Full Scan for viruses and related malware, activate or deactivate IntelliGuard (real-time) protection, and access the Quarantine and Results Lists.
Displays the System Scan screen, where you can commence either a Full Scan or Custom Scan of your computer for viruses and related malware. Infected files as well as system memory objects can be detected and removed in these scans.
Displays the IntelliGuard screen where you can view the current status and behavior of the File Guard real-time protection tool, and access its settings.
Displays the Settings screen where you can access PC Tools AntiVirus' General, Log, Startup, Scheduler, Scan and IntelliGuard
settings. PC Tools AntiVirus' overall functionality and scanning behavior can be adjusted using the options available in each settings category. Note: The Scan emails option in the Scan Settings category is deactivated by default.
Displays the About screen, where you can view more information about your current installation and version of PC Tools AntiVirus. Note: This button is only visible while PC Tools AntiVirus is registered.
Smart Update
The Smart Update function can be initiated at any time by clicking Smart Update at the top of the product interface. Please be aware that the main PC Tools AntiVirus application may close temporarily while updates are downloading and being implemented. If so, PC Tools AntiVirus restarts immediately once this process is complete.

The Help menu provides access to this Quick Start Guide, as well as relevant PC Tools AntiVirus pages on the PC Tools web site and the product About screen.

The Scheduler Settings category of the Settings screen allows you to schedule Full Scans and Smart Updates as well as checks for Smart Updates to occur at specified times or intervals.
