The Windows registry is an important database of the Windows operating
system which contains information and settings for all the hardware, software,
users, and preferences of the PC. Whenever a user makes changes to "Control Panel" settings, or file associations, system policies, or installed software,
the changes are reflected and stored in the registry. It controls applications,
user settings, and hardware devices. Programs are constantly referencing the
registry while they run.
The Windows registry is a vital part of Windows. If it is damaged the whole
system gets corrupted. In addition, old, unused registry entries can slow down
your computer and degrade its performance.
